The Hamilton Kids--Jaime 13, Sam 11, and Danny 9--discover that bank robbers are hiding in the house at the summit of their "Spider Mountain," which is actually a huge hill where they live at the foot.
Kidnapped by the criminals when the kids climb the hill to investigate, they manage to escape but the bad guys try to recapture them. The kids, in desperation, turn to their Ouija Board and the spirit named Bagnomi who communicates with them.
Bagnomi tells the family to leave home to escape another possible kidnapping and they retreat to the Sierras on a camping trip where Jaime gets lost and has to survive on her girl scout training.
The kids' grandmother--who resembles Ronald McDonald-- had come to live with them as well as a furniture-chewing dog they learn to love.
A pet tarantula helps to capture the bank robbers and the Hamilton kids are ready for a new adventure in Wyoming at their Uncle Harry's mountaintop ranch. That adventure, the second in the series, is titled The Ghost of Crimson Dawn and will be released later this year.
Published by Medallion Books, The Mystery of Spider Mountain was written for middle grade children, ages 9-12. The mystery novel is available on Kindle and the print edition will be released during the spring of 2011.
